FAH Submits Statement Outlining Workforce Crisis to Senate Committee

The Senate HELP Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety hosted a hearing Thursday entitled Recruiting, Revitalizing & Diversifying: Examining the Health Care Workforce Shortage. In advance of the hearing, FAH submitted a Statement for the Record, highlighting the ongoing struggle for hospitals to maintain a robust workforce with historic levels of resignation and burnout.

The FAH letter further draws attention to widely reported stories of nurse-staffing agencies exploiting the COVID-19 crisis with predatory price increases. FAH offers support for a number of policy solutions that will yield short and long-term stability in the recruitment, retention, and diversification of the health care workforce, while also urging greater parity for tax-paying hospitals – and our workforce – in terms of eligibility for federal health-related programs.
