Health Equity

The Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) and its members are committed to addressing racial discrimination in health care across the United States. Current disparities in health outcomes, exacerbated by the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE), leave certain populations bearing disproportionate disease burden and mortality.

As such, FAH is committed to working with the administration, including the COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force, as well as Congress to assess the impact of regulations across all areas of health policy, while aggressively working to remove social and structural barriers to improve health via regulatory or legislative action. While undertaking these efforts, it is critical to develop a framework that allows standardized and appropriate collection of social risk data (focusing on social determinants of health) that may inform disparities as well as appropriate risk adjustment in quality measures and programs.
