Today, FAH joined 11 other hospital and health care associations in sending a letter urging HHS to actively engage with providers and other stakeholders to gain technical expertise and context when developing new reporting requirements for Medicaid supplemental payments.
Last year’s December deal to fund the government and offer COVID relief – the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 (CAA) – delayed Medicaid disproportionate share hospital payment cuts during the pandemic. As part of that deal, the legislation also established criteria for a new Medicaid supplemental payment reporting system. Given the complexity and variation in Medicaid supplemental payments and provider payment mechanisms across states, the letter urges the Administration to include stakeholder input and engagement in developing future requirements.
