FAH President and CEO Chip Kahn released the following statement after reviewing the FY 2022 Budget Resolution Framework released today by Senate Democrats:
“The budget resolution framework released today by Senate Democrats contains several promising proposals that will expand coverage and increase access to care for millions of Americans. However, as always, ‘the devil is in the details’ so we look forward to reviewing the reconciliation bill when it becomes available.
“We strongly support making permanent the expanded ACA subsidies enacted in the American Rescue Plan Act to help millions more afford quality health care coverage. And we must fill the Medicaid coverage gap for the most vulnerable Americans in non-expansion states. The best way to do that quickly and effectively is to simply build on the success of the ACA framework with plans currently in place, not starting a new Federal program from scratch.
“At the same time we advance coverage, let’s not slow the economic recovery. Raising the corporate tax rate is the wrong prescription at the wrong time. It punishes the very domestic companies still recovering from the ongoing pandemic, and which we count on to grow the economy and create jobs.
“We look forward to working with Congress as this framework makes its way through the legislative process.”
