Today, FAH joined 10 other national physician and hospital organizations on a letter to CMS raising concerns over its recent overhaul of quality reporting requirements for the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP).
The changes, finalized in late 2020 as part of the 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule final rule, shift the quality requirements to reflect the Alternative Payment Model Performance Pathways (APP) measures to better align with other programs – while departing from more specific measures of quality for accountable care organizations (ACOs). The groups urge CMS to reconsider the decisions finalized in December 2020 and find alternative approaches and delayed timeframes that will better address the needs of ACOs and their patients.
