This week the Federation of American Hospitals presented Ije-enu N Udeze Nwosu, the Executive Director of Impact Spending at Kaiser Permanente, with the 15th annual Corris Boyd Leadership Award. Udeze Nwosu was honored on June 7th during the FAH Annual Conference and Business Exposition in Nashville, Tennessee.
At the new Nashville location due to COVID-19 restrictions, John Pritchard, President and CEO of Shared Moving Media and the 2021 Chair of the FAH Exposition Advisory Committee, handed out the award, but not before thanking everyone involved in the logistical challenge of moving the Expo 650 miles in a matter of 7 weeks.
One nominator described Ije-enu N Udeze Nwosu as “creative and transparent” with “strong and dedicated executive leadership” and “creative leadership.” She has also been honored as a mentor – not just inside her company, but both in the local and global communities – who was named a “Top 40 under 40” executive by the San Francisco Business Times. Additionally, she has been recognized by Modern Healthcare with both the “Up and Comer” award and as one of the “Top 10 Minority Executives in Healthcare to Watch.”
The nominator continued, writing Ije “comes to each meeting with clear and thoughtful communication” looking for ways to help those across the industry.”
“This award is given annually in memory of our late friend. Corris Boyd was an exceptional person and an outstanding leader in workplace diversity.” Pritchard said.
The Corris Boyd Leadership Award honors an individual or company that has made an outstanding contribution in fostering leadership in the health care industry. FAH established the Corris Boyd Leadership in 2007 to honor the late Corris Boyd, who spent his career working with hospital management companies and group purchasing organizations. Corris Boyd committed his life to diversity and excellence in health care. He believed that leadership development is crucial to success and was devoted to the success of minority- and women-owned business enterprises.
