FAH Statement | Managed Care | Chip Kahn

“Open Enrollment Season Should Not be Open Season on Seniors” – FAH Leader Reacts to Senate Hearing on MA Abuse

FAH President and CEO Chip Kahn released the following statement in response to the Senate Finance Hearing entitled, “Medicare Advantage Annual Enrollment: Cracking Down on Deceptive Practices and Improving Senior Experiences.”

“Open enrollment season should not be open season on seniors, where health plans mislead the public on Medicare Advantage by overpromising and underdelivering.

“Abuse of prior authorization by plans results in vital, doctor-prescribed care being delayed or even denied.

“With open enrollment going strong, it is timely for the Senate Finance Committee to examine the marketing practices of the insurers offering Medicare Advantage plans. We support Chairman Wyden and Ranking Member Crapo in this critical effort to protect seniors’ access to care.”
