Modern Healthcare Honors FAH’s Chip Kahn, Members on Annual “100 Most Influential” List

Modern Healthcare recently released its annual 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare list for 2022. The Federation of American Hospitals is honored to have our membership represented, including FAH President and CEO Chip Kahn, who made the list for the 21st time – making him the only person to appear each year since the program started in 2002.

This prestigious recognition program acknowledges individuals who are deemed by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to be the most influential figures in the industry in terms of leadership and impact.

“The past year had been one in which disrupters turned into major players and industry leaders raised their voices to effect change within their organizations and the broader community,” said Modern Healthcare Editor Mary Ellen Podmolik. “Our 2022 ranking of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare recognizes these individuals who are transforming a major sector of the nation’s economy and are focused on improving care and payment models.”

The following FAH leaders appeared on this year’s list:

  • Sam Hazen, CEO, HCA Healthcare
  • Tim Hingtgen, CEO, Community Health Systems
  • Marc Miller, President & CEO, Universal Health Systems
  • Chip Kahn, President & CEO, Federation of American Hospitals

Modern Healthcare’s annual list is a collaboration of both the magazine’s senior editors’ rankings as well as votes from readers and the general public. After a nomination process, readers and editors pick their favorites from a preliminary ballot of 300 healthcare leaders.

This is the 21st edition of Modern Healthcare’s Most influential list and Chip Kahn has the distinction of being the only person to appear on the list its inception. Modern Healthcare’s editors said Chip “has continued to help shape healthcare policy and advance the agenda of his more than 1,000 members.”

It pointed specifically to his efforts on stopping statutory Pay-As-You-Go reductions to hospital Medicare payments, as well as his advocacy on behalf of rural hospitals.
