WASHINGTON – Today, FAH President and CEO Chip Kahn issued a statement in support of the recently introduced H.R. 1868. The Federation also joined a coalition of nearly 50 leading health care organizations in sending a letter to congressional leaders asking for an extension of the Medicare sequester moratorium and for PAYGO reductions to be waived:

“It is critical to fighting COVID that the House, led by Chairmen Yarmuth, Neal, Pallone and David Scott, is acting decisively to support needed resources for America’s frontline caregivers and hospitals. By introducing legislation to extend the moratorium on the 2% Medicare sequester (set to expire on March 31st) and waive mandatory Pay-As-You-Go (PAYGO) reductions that would result in a 4% Medicare cut, these congressional leaders have taken an essential step towards protecting access to care, not just for Medicare beneficiaries, but all patients.

“We are still in the midst of an unprecedented crisis and we should not cut back on support for those who are valiantly treating both COVID and non-COVID patients. Hospitals and providers need every resource at their disposal so we can defeat this virus. We urge Congress to pass this legislation before March 31st and ensure that we are best equipped to put this pandemic behind us.”

Earlier today, FAH also joined a coalition of 49 leading health care organizations in support of legislation that would extend the Medicare sequester moratorium and waive PAYGO statute reductions. The letter can be found here.
