FAH President and CEO Chip Kahn released the following statement after the House and Senate passed a bipartisan gun safety package:

“This bipartisan gun legislation is a critically important step forward in the ongoing effort to reduce violence in communities coast to coast.

Hospitals see the tragic effects of gun violence every day and sadly sometimes our frontline caregivers experience it themselves.

There are many important provisions in this law, like vital investments in behavioral health, that will propel forward efforts in areas our hospitals serve to combat the scourge of shootings.

We appreciate the efforts of members of both parties and in both houses of Congress that came together to break the partisan gridlock and make these reforms a reality.”
