FAH submitted a statement for the record ahead of tomorrow’s House Committee on Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee markup of 23 bills. The comments highlight FAH’s support for expanding telehealth and remote patient monitoring services. FAH specifically endorsed the advancement of the following pieces of legislation under consideration:
• Telehealth Modernization Act (H.R.7623), which extends pandemic-era Medicare telehealth flexibilities for 2 years
• Telehealth Enhancement for Mental Health Act of 2024 (H.R.7858), which establishes a new modifier code for telehealth mental health services
• Expanding Remote Monitoring Access Act (H.R. 5394) which eases restrictions on provider billing thresholds, allowing more seniors to receive remote monitoring services.
Additionally, FAH expressed concerns regarding the inclusion of a budget neutrality provision in the Facilitating Innovative Nuclear Diagnostics Act of 2023 (H.R.1199), which (depending on the cost of the bill) could cause a rippling and distorting impact across all OPPS payments.
