This morning, the Board of Directors of the Federation of American Hospitals elected Keith Pitts, Vice Chairman with Tenet Healthcare Corporation, as the FAH’s new Chairman of the Board.  Keith’s term as Chairman took effect immediately and will last one year.

Keith is one of the nation’s preeminent hospital industry executives.  He has more than 30 years of experience in the health sector and is well-known and highly regarded for his strong leadership skills, his expertise in hospital industry financial and operational management, and his extensive knowledge of health policy.  He previously served as FAH Chairman during 2007 and 2008.

As FAH Chairman, Keith succeeds David T. Vandewater, President and CEO of Ardent Health Services.  David also has extensive executive experience in the hospital industry, more than 30 years of experience in the health sector, and expansive knowledge of hospital and health policy.  He served previously as the FAH Board Chairman in 1996.

Over the last year, under our Board’s clear vision and David’s outstanding leadership, the FAH and our member company hospitals have helped policymakers and the public better understand the challenges facing hospitals across the nation.

We are extremely fortunate to have two tremendously talented leaders guiding our industry.  I want to thank David for his outstanding leadership and dedication to our hospitals and our patients.  I also know that under Keith’s leadership as Board Chair our industry will continue leading the way to achieve continuous improvement in hospital care quality, and provide the vital health care services upon which patients and communities across the country rely and depend.
