FAH Presents Annual Corris Boyd Leadership Award to Tanya Bowman

This week the Federation of American Hospitals presented Tanya Bowman, Senior Director of Supplier Relations and Contract Uptake at Premier, Inc., with the 2022 Corris Boyd Leadership Award. FAH recognized Bowman’s accomplishments during the FAH Annual Conference and Business Exposition in Washington, D.C. on March 7.

Nominators describe Bowman as “a remarkable force in the health care industry who has propelled positive and measurable changes within her organization and in health systems.” They also applauded Bowman’s keen diplomacy, listening aptitude, relationship management skills, and strong client service orientation.

During her presentation speech, Kerry Price, Senior Vice President of Operations at FAH, highlighted Bowman’s accomplishments, recognizing her strong commitment to fairness and diligent work to ensure diversity maintains center stage at Premier, Inc.

“She is firm in her guidance when moving providers away from playing a numbers game when it comes to supplier diversity – instead, working to help them work supplier diversity into their company culture,” nominators praised.

It is an FAH tradition to surprise the recipient of the Corris Boyd Leadership Award, and this year was no different; Bowman was unaware of the honor until she was called to the stage.

Boyd’s wife, Vanessa, was also in attendance and helped present the award.

“This award is given annually in memory of our late friend. Corris Boyd was an exceptional person and an outstanding leader in workplace diversity. It is our way of keeping his legacy of excellence going,” Price said.

The Corris Boyd Leadership Award honors an individual or company that has made an outstanding contribution in fostering leadership in the health care industry. FAH established the award in 2007 to honor the late Corris Boyd, who spent his career working with hospital management companies and group purchasing organizations. Corris Boyd committed his life to diversity and excellence in health care. He believed that leadership development is crucial to success and was devoted to the success of minority- and women-owned business enterprises.

FAH is honored to present Tanya Bowman as the 2022 Corris Boyd Award winner and extends its thanks for her outstanding work and embodiment of the ideals the award represents.
