In his role as Executive Vice President, Public Affairs, Joe leads the Federation’s government relations and public relations departments. Britton oversees all advocacy, digital and social media, communications and political affairs functions of FAH.
Joe spent more than 16 years working in a variety of roles in several Senate offices and at the Department of Agriculture. His work has been pivotal on major health care, public lands, appropriations and budgeting legislation.
Prior to joining the Federation in 2019, Joe served as the Chief of Staff to Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM).
Before working for Senator Heinrich, Joe was Senior Advisor to Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack and Deputy Chief of Staff for Colorado Senator Mark Udall. During that time, he established a reputation as a leader with a strong understanding of bipartisan consensus building.
He got his start on Capitol Hill working for Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska. Joe has also held positions with high profile campaigns – both national and statewide.
Joe earned his Masters in Government and Masters in Business Administration from the Johns Hopkins University and graduated with a double major in Government and Economics from the University of Virginia.
