The Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) publishes Hospital Outlook, a newsletter containing news and analysis of leading health policy issues of interest to the investor-owned hospital community. Hospital Outlook is distributed to every hospital in the country, as well as to the offices of Members of Congress and federal regulators.

The Federation of American Hospitals also compiles and publishes an annual Directory of Investor-Owned Community Hospitals, Hospital Management Companies and Health Systems, Residential Treatment Facilities and Centers, and Key Management Personnel. The Directory, utilized widely by health care executives, is the only publication of its kind in the U.S. and contains a comprehensive list of investor-owned hospitals and residential treatment facilities and centers, as well as statistical data of investor-owned/managed community facilities, including geographical and management company distribution.
