Nearly 1400 attendees representing hospitals and hospital management companies, Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), the VA, and hospital supplier companies gathered recently in Washington, D.C., for the Federation of American Hospitals’ 2011 Public Policy Conference and Business Exposition.
The general session speakers included U.S. House Majority Leader Eric I. Cantor (R-VA), U.S. Senator Orrin G. Hatch (R-UT), Governor of Mississippi Haley Barbour, U.S. Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), Donald M. Berwick, M.D., Administrator, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, U.S. Representative Dave Camp (R-MI), and economist Jeff Goldsmith, President, Health Futures, Inc. And, as always, throughout the meeting, the FAH Business Exposition served as an invaluable forum for hospital executives and buyers to meet face-to-face with suppliers and to network with both current and potential customers.
